In this weekly series we highlight fun, simple games which can be played at your local park, around your campsite firepit, with new friends or family. The games vary from icebreakers, name games, and exercise warm-ups, to puzzles or riddles. Check out our weekly post and get out there and have some fun!
Participants: One who knows the game, and at least one more
Equipment: Stick or another easily handled object, like a water bottle
Timeframe: 5-10 minutes
Objective: To learn to do the log dance
The leader who knows the log dance will begin by standing before the group with the stick, and begin by casually saying “okay”. Then while dancing however they want, they sing “I can do the log dance, I can do the log dance, I can do the log dance, can YOU?” and point to another person with the stick to give it a try next. If the person does a dance, says the log dance song, and points, but does NOT start with the “okay”, it’s wrong and another person must try, or the leader shows the correct way again. The trick is to make the “okay” very nonchalant so others take a while to catch on.
