What is the Water Cycle?

The water cycle is the process of water circulating between the earth’s atmosphere, land, and waterways!

There are many different ways to explain the Water Cycle but a simple approach is looking at 4 main phases:

EVAPORATION – The process of liquid changing to gas. This occurs in our oceans, lakes, pond, rivers, or even your drinking glass!

CONDENSATION – The process of water vapor/gas changing to a liquid. This creates our clouds!

PRECIPITATION – The process of water falling from the sky. This everything from rain, snow, sleet or hail!

TRANSPIRATION – The process of plants absorbing water through roots and giving off water vapor through pores in their leaves.
