Little Lake, Big Fun – Relax on Little Lake butte des Morts! A calm body of water which receives its inflow from short segments of the Fox River flowing from Lake Winnebago. The North end of Little Lake Butte des Morts gently turns into the Fox River rushing towards Green Bay. Paddle under the Friendship Trail Trestle, explore James Island, or simply soak up the sun with the rest of the wildlife!

Options galore exist for this lake: round trip in the lake, one-way paddle into Appleton, or meander through Neenah Creek into the Lake!

View the Niagara Escarpment from the water! It is one of Wisconsin’s many natural treasures. Various rock layers created cliff ledges that overlook the Lake, facing out towards Doty Island. The area is culturally rich with history dating thousands of years and ancient burial grounds are evidence of past civilizations!

Whether you climb the 40-foot lookout tower, stand on a 200-foot bluff, or hike past the ancient Siouan Native American effigy mounds, everyone has a good time at High Cliff State Park. Between the naps in the grass and your barbecue feast – spend a few hours exploring the shoreline from a kayak.

Launch from one of the oldest communities in Wisconsin – Wrightstown!

Founded by Hoel S. Wright in 1833 –he opened a trading post and offered ferry services on the Fox River. This section of the river offers a quiet and peaceful round-trip float or a free flowing one-way trip to enjoy a longer paddle outing portaging or paddling through Little Rapids Lock.

Make sure to pack water and a hearty snack if taking on the longer route through Little Rapids Lock! This is a route set for more athletic paddlers due to the length.

Experience a true adventure on your Rapide Croche Portage excursion! This trip includes a segment of low-level rapids, relaxing scenery, and portaging our kayaks around a closed lock that leads us to our destination in Wrightstown!

Note – This section of water is best suited for Spring and early Summer as low water levels restrict passage around the end of the season!

Journey through the waterways that enabled vessels’ passage to Green Bay. Paddle along the shores of Thousand Island Conservancy as birds soar above us!

We recommend this outing for more athletic individuals looking for a fun day on the water! (you will be carrying your kayaks with your guide/fellow adventurers for the portage section)
