Guided Excursions

A favorite among our activities – the original kayak outing of the Appleton Locks! On this excursion, you will traverse four historic locks, experiencing a controlled drop of more than forty feet from launch to takeout. After navigating through the fourth lock, enjoy the beautiful scenery and free-flowing water of the Fox River until you reach your destination.

Enjoy this go-with-the-flow paddle with a unique view of the heart of Appleton Wisconsin. Keep an eye out for wildlife! Eagles, herons, turtles, and more!

A scenic adventure along the shoreline of Doty Island! This route includes two channels of the Fox River and ventures into Lake Winnebago, offering both big water feel and tucking into hidden channels.

On this route, you will paddle your way along Doty Island’s shoreline toward the Kimberly Point Lighthouse. Paddle under bridges, past historic homes, and take in the vista of High Cliff across the lake. With beautiful parks scattered throughout the Island, this trip is flexible and suitable for all ages and experience levels. Remember to keep an eye out for wildlife throughout this Fox River and Lake Winnebago paddle!

Originally known as ‘Rapids Des Peres’ (Rapids of the Fathers) you will launch onto a route used for hundreds of years to move this region forward. Before the dam/lock was built this was the last set of rapids on the Fox River before the calm flow to the Bay.

Paddling through you will pass St. Norbert College campus founded in 1898, traverse a single lock, and go with the flow into Ashwaubenon Creek! Experience one of the most-used locks on the Fox, kayak past peaceful parks, and see if you can spot the beaver dam on the Creek.

Enjoy the beautiful sunset from the comfort of your kayak. Launch at the mouth of the Fox River and traverse Doty Island’s Lake Winnebago shoreline. Experience it all – The Fox River Channel, the open Lake Winnebago, and the relaxing inlet of Doty Island!
