Fun in the Sun Games – Standing Paddles

In this weekly series we highlight fun, simple games which can be played at your local park, around your campsite firepit, with new friends or family. The games vary from icebreakers, name games, and exercise warm-ups, to puzzles or riddles. Check out our weekly post and get out there and have some fun!

Participants: 5 or more

Equipment: One kayak paddle per person

Timeframe: About 10 minutes depending on group size

Objective: to be the last one with a paddle Stand in a circle with paddles vertical in one hand. One person picks a number (number must be maximum group size or less) and that is how many paddles you must move to the right or left (alternating turns) before the paddles fall. If you do not reach a paddle in time, you’re out. This is good for warming up on a chilly day, or breaking the ice in a new group! Once two people are left, try increasing numbers to run in circles or increasing distance between them.
